Welcome to Historic Plaster Conservation Services of Port Hope, Ontario, the newest Member of the Guild of Building Artisans.
Since 1988, HPCS has focused on plaster conservation in historic buildings. They have developed their own products and techniques to secure original architectural plaster and also offer consulting. Completed projects range from stabilizing the ceiling above an expensive pipe organ in a monumental New York City church, to re-attaching and preserving wallpaper as-is for future historical analysis in an historic tenement buildingalso in New York City. Their commitment to minimal intervention as conservators is exemplified in the recommendations they have made for important public buildings in Ontario, including the Library of Parliament in Ottawa and the Dominion Public Buildingin Hamilton.
The website for HPCS provides an abundance of technical detail and is interesting throughout.
