Built in 1928, this Art Deco commercial entrance had never been maintained, never mind restored. That made the job of F2 Industries, Inc., of Sycamore, Illinois that much easier, in a way, because they were starting almost from scratch. They removed the entire entrance to their shop, and did it their way. The double set of brass revolving doors had to be fully dismantled. The brass elements were originally built over wooden cores, which were removed and replaced with high density urethane. All bronze was carefully mechanically cleaned. The glass was replaced with thermal panes, instead of the original single glazing. The images here show exterior views, but all the work was duplicated on the inside, as well.
